{"vacs":[{"id":"66","title":"IFA Workplace Learning Bursary in Post Excavation at the University of Birmingham","regionID":"2","specification":"Salary: &pound;16,621 (rising to &pound;17,120 from April 2008) \r\nStart Date: February 2008 Duration: 12 months \r\nApplications are invited for an HLF-funded IFA Workplace Learning Bursary at Birmingham Archaeology, University of Birmingham in Post Excavation under the supervision of Post Excavation Manager Dr Amanda Forster. \r\nThis is an excellent opportunity to receive training in all aspects of post excavation management within a commercial unit. Training will focus on the development, maintenance and management of the process that takes archaeological sites from excavation to publication. The successful candidate will work with our small Finds, Environmental, Illustration and Archive teams in order to facilitate an integrated and effective post excavation system. The development and curation of accessible and organised archaeological archives will be a major outcome of this training placement. The placement offers the opportunity to really understand the post excavation process and gain an insight into the diversity of information collated, keeping a close eye on the archaeological material and considering clients needs &ndash; all within the framework of MAP 2, MoRPHE and IFA guidelines. \r\nThere may also be an opportunity to use the experience gained in this placement towards a vocational qualification in archaeological practice. \r\nWe welcome applicants with some field experience and who have a relevant qualification (or equivalent experience); some experience of commercial archaeology would be useful (even if limited). Computing experience and some experience in using databases is essential, as is a commitment to learning and improving. The Bursary Holder will be based in the Finds Laboratory within Birmingham Archaeology, University of Birmingham, Birmingham.
