{"vacs":[{"id":"56","title":"IFA Workplace Learning Bursary","regionID":"40","specification":"<p>IFA Workplace Learning Bursary Finds Assistant with Specialist Interest in Prehistoric Finds and Pottery <br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nHosted by: Headland Archaeology <br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nDuration: The post is offered as a 12 month full time position <br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nStart Date: July 2007 <br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nSalary: &pound;15,340 <br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nApplications are invited for an HLF-funded IFA Workplace Learning Bursary with Headland Archaeology, in the field of prehistoric finds. The post represents an excellent opportunity to obtain a wide range of skills in all aspects of archaeological finds work (specialising in prehistoric finds) with a highly active commercial archaeological contractor, engaged in rescue and research projects. The successful candidate will work on a programme of training, development and application under the supervision of Fraser Hunter, Alison Sheridan and other specialists in prehistoric finds and pottery at the National Museums of Scotland. Julie Franklin, Headland Archaeology&rsquo;s Finds Officer will act as mentor to provide the post-holder with guidance and support during the course of the placement. <br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nThis is an opportunity to gain training in all aspects of finds work, including: excavation, first aid for finds, processing, storage, handling, transportation, description, identification, cataloguing, dating, assessment of potential, liaising with conservators and illustrators, analysis and interpretation, the production of reports for publication and archiving. The placement is designed around the National Occupational Standards in Archaeological Practice, providing the candidate with the opportunity to use the experience gained in this placement towards a vocational Qualification in Archaeological Practice. <br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nWe welcome applications from candidates with archaeological training to degree level (or equivalent experience), with a strong interest in pursuing a career in prehistoric finds or a related area. Candidates should have good IT skills and some archaeological fieldwork experience.
