A complete copper-alloy single sharp-hooked clasp of Read's Early Medieval (1500-1625) Class E Type 3 (2008; 7). The object has a trapezoidal loop (13.6mm wide) above circular main plate. the plate is domed being convex on its front and concave on its reverse. It has a raised collar running around its circumference. The collar has incised dashes across it giving it a beaded look. An incomplete copper alloy transverse wing terret dating to the Iron Age (c.100 cal BC - AD 100). About one third of the ring survives. The surviving fragment is made up of a circular cross sectioned bar bent into a curve that would have originally being circular or D-shaped in Plan. There are two surviving prominent mouldings, one placed just after a break, another at the apex of the surviving curve and traces of a moulding at the second transverse break. A fragment of a copper-alloy disc of Medieval date 8th-9th century. All that remains is a quarter of the disc, which has cruciform arms and a chip-carved counter-relief interlace is net-like and occasionally expands to form small triangles. The interlace is abstract, with no animal elements identifiable, but there is evidence of gilding. The reverse is undecorated and has corrosion. The catchplate and pin are missing. The button has a tombac or white metal upper disc (an alloy of mostly copper and zinc with some other elements) giving a silvery appearance and copper alloy lower disc.
