The unit can be described as Cottam et al.'s 'Tincomarus Cross Lion' type (ABC 1124), with the first four letters of the ruler's name spaced around a long armed cross on the obverse. The obverse depicts a prancing lion with bucranium (bull's skull) below. Cottam et al. A very worn very debased gold and copper alloy stater dating to the Late Iron Age. The uniface stater appears to be an issue of the Atrebates or the Regini dating to the period 60-50 BC. The stiking on the reverse of the flan is poor and also over half of it is off-flan. This is most likely to be a 'Selsey Uniface' type (ABC 488) howeverthe charioteers arm above the horse appears to be formed of three limbs, similar to ABC 521 of the Regini. However the latter is a very rare coin so on balance that recorded here is more likely to be the former issue. This may be a contemporary copy wh…

An Iron Age gold stater, attributed to the Southern tribes of the Atrebates or Regini and dating from c. 60-50 BC. ABC no. 485, the 'Selsey two-face' or ABC 491, the 'Selsey S-type' (Cottam 2010:47-48). The reverse of this coin is very worn and almost indistinguishable, therefore it is unclear which of the above two issues this coin belongs.
