Iron Age gold quarter stater. Eastern series (attributed to the Trinovantes), c. 80-50 BC. ABC (Cottam et al 2010) 2356; VA (Van Arsdell 1989) 1460-1. The reverse is a variant of the published type with a small spikey motif in the angle of the cross, replacing the common arcs. The central pellet is also replaced by a ring. John Sills has suggested that this is the second example struck from these dies - see CCI 01.0056 (SNC October 2007, no. HS3112).
