Roman coin; struck copper alloy coin with silver wash, contemporary copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander, dating to 222-235. The reverse image seems to be Spes walking left, holding a flower and lifting the hem of her skirt behind but the inscription does not match this image. Denarii with this image should have the legend ‘SPES REPVBLICA’ but this has a titular legend.

A silver plated copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander, much of the silver surviving especially on the reverse. The copy itself is a mule. The reverse has TRP XI, used on issues dated to 232, but the obverse inscription, IMP SEV ALEXAND AVG, uses a form only used on issues dated up to 231. The copy presumably dates to 232.
