Possibly, a copper alloy intaglio bezel for a Roman finger ring dating to AD 43-410 or the bezel for an intaglio in the centre of a Roman plate brooch dating to AD 100-300. The beze; is oval with narrow raised rims round the edge of each side. The rim of one side is deeper than on the other side. Presumbly, there was originally an intaglio in the depression framed by the deeper rim and the whole frame attached by the back to a finger ring or brooch. The patina is mid green and the bezel was silvered.

A fragment of a copper alloy Roman (AD c.43-402) finger ring, missing approximately three quarters of its circumference. Overall, it measures 14.1mm long, 10.2mm wide and 4.7mm thick. It weighs 1.16g. The surviving fragment is one of the shoulders of the bezel. The fragment narrows to 4.7mm wide and 1.2mm thick at the other end. The ring appears to have been silvered.

The finger ring has been made from a cast rod/wire of copper alloy, circular in section. There is a trace of silvering between the links and it probably was originally silvered all over. This is a well known Roman mass produced style of jewellery, which can occur in a variety of metals, including in gold. A Medieval cast copper-alloy 'stirrup'-shaped finger-ring. (dating from about 1175- 1450 AD). The hoop is chunky and expands to a pointed flat topped bezel. At the top of the bezel there differential corrosion, perhaps suggesting a setting, now missing. The hoop is 'D'-shaped in cross-section. This ring is similar to examples from London (Egan and Pritchard 1991: 326, refs: 1608, 1609). It is suggested that this form was popular from the mid-12th to the mid-15th century. However, they were most popular during the earlier part of the period. The ring has a smooth grey patina whi…

A copper alloy finger ring with evidence of silvering or tinning on the surface. The shape is classically Roman with the slightly 'D' shaped hoop as opposed to a circle. The design on the bezel appears to be a crudely incised pair of men fighting with swords; as such it may be considered a military style ring. Going further and considering the find location in Lincolnshire, it is conceivable that the ring represents a variation on the known ‘TOT’ rings from that area. In this case, the inscription may represent ‘TUT’ in abbreviation of the god Teutates.
