Copper alloy Unidentified Object with white metal plating traces. A tapering curved bar with a projecting lug or loop on the external side of its curve, and presumably having lost part of its extent. The poor condition of the object would admit the possibility of an open suspension loop having being closed by partial melting, though the retention of any white metal plating in temperatures capable of melting a copper alloy would be odd. One side is in poor condition, and the other in very poor condition. The object may have been a pendant. Suggested date: Unknown, 40-1050. Height: 1…

A nearly complete cast copper-alloy bar mount, possibly a strap fitting, of uncertain date. The mount is solid cast and sub-rectangular in plan, with two rectangular lugs protruding from the reverse side, creating a raised angular D-shaped profile for the mount, perhaps in order to accommodate a strap. The reverse lugs each have a rectangular iron rivet still partially intact; the remains suggest that the rivets were elongated and tapering. Although no incised decoration is visible, traces of silvering or tinning remain on both sides of the mount. The reverse surface is undecorated…

A copper-alloy mount of uncertain date. The crudely made mount is 'propeller-shaped', with an oval central portion, either side of which the sides flare towards a rounded terminal. The areas flanking this central portion have a slight 'bulge' in their sides, and the surfaces at these points are undecorated; in contrast, the areas extending towards the terminals are decorated by longitudinal, parallel lines of what appears to be silvering. These lines sit proud of the rest of the surface, but this may be due to the disintegration of the original surface and the silvering may once hav…

A incomplete copper alloy object, probably a mount, of Medieval to Post Medieval date, c. 1200-1800 AD. The object has been fashioned from a rectangular copper alloy sheet, pressed with a repeating decoration and silvered or tinned on the decorated surface.
