Incomplete Sheffield plate (silver-plated copper alloy) spoon bowl, missing its edge around the circumference of the bowl and the stem apart from the shadow of the base of the stem. The bowl is tear-shaped in plan with a slight dent on one side which extends to a crack on the back of the bowl. At the base of the bowl there is a pointed section removed where the 'drop' would have been which was a raised used to connect the bowl and stem together and to stengthen the spoon. Cast discoid plate with a stepped and bevelled edge and flat display face, hollow behind, and with a boss on the back of diameter 8mm which appears smoothed. Cast silver-plated 'pinchbeck' or copper alloy knee buckle frame that is sub-rectangular in shape with a drilled frame for a separate spindle. The frame has moulded oblique ribs, creating a rope cord effect. Within the frame is a steel anchor chape with two tongues, which now has a layer of corrosion product or iron oxide on the surface. On the back of the silver buckle frame are the hallmarks: lion passant left, anchor, bust right in oval, letter 'R' in square shield. The object is rectangular and is D-shaped in cross-section. One end now tapers to a point, but is broken and could have been longer. The other end flattens, widens and is slightly concave. Silver-plated copper alloy solid, die-cut, two-piece livery button depicting the design of a wolf passant proper standing on a 'torse' or twisted roll of fabric laid at the base of the crest. Above the wolf is a banner with the motto: 'SERMONI CONSONA FACTA' in Latin which translates to 'Deeds agreeing with words'. This crest and motto are associated with the Trelawny family of Trelawne, Pelynt in Cornwall (Pascoe, 108). Copper alloy buckle. Cast rectangular buckle frame of rounded section with curved corners and a strap bar set back behind the frame. The frame bears traces of white metal plating and the strap bar bears rust stains suggesting that it was deposited together with an iron pin (now lost). The robust construction suggests a use with horse harness, while the decoration of such a buckle with plating is slightly unusual. Suggested date: post-Medieval, 1700-1800. A fragment from a cast copper alloy spur of probably post medieval date (1600-1750) . The fragment consists of the pierced terminal and part of one arm along with an attached strap fitting. The break on the arm of the spur is old and much worn; the arm is a faceted D shape in cross section. The terminal expands from the tapering arm and is the shape of a figure of eight with two cast holes, each with a diameter of c. 4.4mm. The holes are positioned one above the other; the upper hole is filed with an incomplete hooked mounts which would have fitted onto the straps that held the spur…
