Incomplete lipped decorated terret (rein ring) of Iron Age date c. 100 BC-100 AD, with La Tene style enamel decorations . The fragment is sub-circular in section, and would have originally been a sub-oval or D- shape, and features intergrally cast raised discoidal transverse moldings ( 2 sets of lips made up of four sub-oval projections). One end of the ring is thicker than the other ( 10.70mm diameter vs 7.74mm diameter). An incomplete copper alloy unidentified object with inlaid enamel and millefiori panels, probably dating to the Roman period, c. AD 43-250.
It is square in plan and rectangular in section. An outer border encloses the enamel which is made up of a 4x5 pattern of millefiori squares of chequered red and yellow enamel, with blue enamel enclosing each square. The centre of the millifiori panel is heavily damaged with the central squares missing entirely. The reverse of the object is flat and undecorated. A complete copper-alloy umbonate disc brooch of Roman date, c.AD 100 - 250. Mackreth 2011, British Plate, Domed boss, Type 6g, Plate 109, no.11588.
The brooch is circular with four knopped projections extending from quarter points around the circumference. One knop is the attachment loop which houses the pin hinge while the opposite knop houses the catchplate to the reverse. The hinge retains an axis bar which houses a closed, flat looped, tapering circular sectioned pin. The catchplate has a hooked terminal for the pin.
