An incomplete copper-alloy enamelled buckle plate of 12th or 13th century date. The plate is a Limoges product made from copper-alloy of which only a tiny stub survives. It is broadly circular in shape, but following the pattern of the enamel design dipping in the centre of each side of the plate. The enamel design comprises four lozenge shaped petals, with white, blue and red enamel, surrounding a circle which is pierced in the centre for a now missing rivet. Limoges dress accessories are only occasionally recorded (see NMS-128191, BH-9EC418, NMS-948…

An incomplete copper-alloy buckle of Early-Medieval date, c.AD 650 - 750. The buckle is D-shaped with a bevelled outer edge, narrowed bar, and half-round pin recess. The upper surface is decorated with a series of ten (10) sub-rectangular cells of red, yellow and white enamel. The bar is flanked by three narrow transverse rectangular cells, the outer two bear yellow enamel, the centre one has white enamel. It has a straight shaft of circular cross-section which tapers to a rounded point, and a sub-circular unclosed loop, which is somewhere between circular and square in cross-section. Just over half of a medieval annular and circular buckle frame. It is broadly oval in cross-section but marginally flatter on one face than the other. At the centre there is a concave constriction caused by wear, resulting from the rotation of a now missing pin. The frame terminates in worn breaks at each end. The metal is patinated dark green. A near complete, copper alloy disc-on-pin buckle of Medieval date (c. AD 1250-1350). The object has an annular frame with a D-shaped cross section. There is a narrow constriction where the pin rests and there are two notches on opposing sides of the reverse of the frame, both 90 degrees from the constriction. These would have held a wire bar at right angles to the pin, though this is missing. An enamelled cast copper alloy double loop buckle of 17th century date, 44.9mm in length. The frame has trepzoidal loops with pointed ends and is decorated with recessed cells containing enamel. The cells on each end comprise triangular cells of green enamel flanking three of white enamel. The sides each have 4 rectangular cells; these have no enamel remaining, but on the basis of comparison with more complete examples such as SUSS-D0ECE2, would have been filled with white, green, green then white enamel. The frame is bent and the pin has been lost.
