Fragment of late Iron Age copper-alloy D-shaped terret, now very corroded but perhaps originally enamelled. It has a sub-circular or slightly oval upright collar terminal 13.7mm wide, 12.1mm tall and 4.8mm thick. From one side of this projects a triangular-section upper ring, with a flat inner and an angled outer. Fragment of a Roman copper-alloy trumpet brooch of Mackreth’s (2011) type TR 3.2 and similar, as far as it survives, to ibid Pl. 89 Nos. 14690 and 5464. The trumpet head and the upper part of the flat pelta-shaped plate are extant. The rest of the plate and the lower bow is missing and only the stump of an integral loop survives on the top. On the reverse of the head there are a pair of very minimally protruding stumps, one on each side: remnants of the spring axis-bar retention lugs, each with an incomplete perforation. All breaks are well worn.  The head flares to a D-sha…

Roman copper-alloy enamelled brooch, apparently a hybrid of bow and plate types, complete except for the hinged pin, much of the enamel and perhaps the tip of one of the wings. The wings are cylindrical and contain an axis bar in-situ. One is slightly shorter than the other, the shorter one perhaps terminating in a worn break. They are divided by a pin slot at the rear.  The wings are joined to one end of a large rectangular flat plate by a short bridging element which  projects from the front-centre of the wings and curves slightly downward, like a bow. It is moulded o…

Fragment of a late Iron Age to early Roman enamelled copper-alloy object, probably a strap or harness mount or fitting. It is flat and rectangular and terminates in a worn transverse break at one end. The front is decorated with an abstract curvilinear design defined by moulded counter-relief cells, which retain traces of degraded red enamel. It is approximately symmetrical about the longitudinal axis and is tightly contained within a rectangular border on the three original edges.  The positive or relief element of the design is a single continuous form that can be des…

Medieval copper-alloy harness mount for the suspension of a pendant. It is a generally flat vertical bar with a vacant rivet hole near each end and a pair of pierced lugs projecting downward from the lower end, each containing the remnants of a transverse pin or axis-bar, probably made of iron.  The mount is decorated with low-relief mouldings on the front. The centre is expanded in width and bears a sexfoil star-shape with long pointed foils and a much smaller sexfoil rose or flower at the centre. Both the star and the flower are recessed within and at the centre of the flower t…

Incomplete Roman headstud brooch, now in poor condition having lost all its surface back to bare metal. The rectangular swept-back wings each retain a patch of blue enamel at their ends and a patch of red enamel further forward.
