A gold mount decorated with filigree, granulation and cloisonné garnet inlay. The mount comprises a sub-circular piece of gold sheet edged with a strand of gold beaded wire. In the centre is a circular cell made from an upright gold strip surrounded with a collar of gold beaded wire. It is inlaid with a flat cut red gem, presumably a garnet, with a central gold annulet. An incomplete and slightly worn Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) cast copper-alloy zoomorphic strap-end (c. 800-c. 900). This strap-end is a variant on the standard 9th-century strap-end, the Thomas Class A, Type 1. The top side is scalloped and the vertical sides evenly flare and then converge towards the base, where it is evenly rounded. The attachment end is broken and one of the 'leaves' is missing due to a horizontal break. The surviving part contains two circular rivet holes which have a diameter of c. 1.7mm.
