An Early Medieval (c. AD 822-840) silver denier of Carolingian Francia, issued by Louis the Pious. [XPISTIANO REL]IGIO reverse type. Only a small fragment of the coin remains, roughly a quarter which appears to have been intentionally cut. On the remaining reverse the corner of a church design can be seen. Mint uncertain.

Treasure ref. 2018 T928: an Early-Medieval gold coin pendant. The pendant is made from a 9th-century Anglo-Frisian copy of a Carolingian solidus of Louis the Pious (814-840). The coin has been pierced directly above the head.
