A silver Scottish coin; a voided long cross cut half penny of Alexander III (AD 1249-1286), first coinage, struck about AD 1250-1280. Probably type III, IV or V. Mint and moneyer is unknown. The legend is mostly off the edge of the flan.  There is a six pointed star in each quarter. Seaby number 5042 - 5048. Dimensions: The coin is 13.9mm long, 7.1mm wide, 1.8mm thick in its bent form and weighs 0.43g. The metal of the coin is 0.6mm thick.

A Medieval silver coin of Alexander III of Scotland. The coin has been cut in half. The centre is very worn and the legend is worn "ALEXAND [ER REX]" The reverse has two remaining segments, each with a six pointed star. There is a voided long cross separating the segments. The legend is difficult to read but possibly says "WA TER" (Walter?).
