A Medieval silver Scottish coin; a penny of Alexander III, second coinage, Class E dating from about AD 1280 - 1292. The mullets on the reverse have 26 points which may suggest the coin was minted in Perth. See Spink's Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands number 5056. The edge of the coin between 9 and 12 o'clock on the obverse is missing. It is otherwsie in good condition. It measures 17.2mm diameter, 0.7mm thick and 0.98g.
