An extremely worn sestertius, probably of the Antonine dynasty and possibly of Commodus, c. AD 175-192 (Reece period 9). Reverse type probably ITALIA, depicting Italia, towered, seated left on globe, holding cornucopiae and sceptre. Mint of Rome. For a possible parallel, cf. RIC III, p. 416, no. 438, issued between AD 183-184. Both surfaces of the coin are severely abraded, making a full identification difficult. Both legends are illegible. However, remaining features on both obverse and reverse depictions support the suggested identification above.
