A silver Roman coin; a denarius of Commodus (AD 177 - 192) dating from about AD 185 (Reece Period 9), reverse depicting (probably) Jupiter standing left holding a thunderbolt (or Victory perhaps) and spear. Mint of Rome probably. The legends are the same as Sear Volume II number 5676, but Jupiter is depicted standing, not seated. The coin is 17.33mm diameter and 1.75mm thick. 2.25g.

A worn, Roman copper alloy Sestertius of Commodus (AD 180-92). Coins of this design date to around AD 188-9 (Reece Period 9). The reverses depict Mars standing left holding branch and sceptre (though the branch has been worn away completely and the sceptre is very faint). The inscriptions have all been worn away. Uncertain mint. HESH-D1CA05 is also a coin of this type. The coin weighs 20.18g and has a diameter of 28.68mm.

A Roman silver coin: a denarius of Commodus as augustus, dating from AD190 - 191 (Reece period 9). The reverse legend reads: GEN AVG FELIC COS VI. The reverse type depicts Genius standing, facing left, sacrificing from a patera over an altar and holding a cornucopia. Rome mint. Reference: RIC volume 3, number 227. There are some edge chips to the flan between 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock on the obverse. The coin is otherwise in VF condition. It is 18mm in diameter and 1.8mm thick. It weighs 2.1gm.
