Damaged silver Post Medieval groat of Mary. Initial mark pomegranate, London (Tower) mint. North 1960. AD1553-1554. The coin is severely cracked across its centreline suggesting it may have been folded when found and straightened post recovery. If this is so the accuracy of the fold suggests it possibly entered the ground as a religious invocation.

The reverse features a quartered shielf over long cross fourchee within inner circle, legend around VERITAS TEMPORIS FILIA. Slight damage between 11 and 1 o clock on obverse, coin very worn and almost flat on obverse. The coin weighs 1.6g and is 21.06mm in diameter.
