A silver Medieval coin; a groat of Edward III, probably Pre-Treaty coinage, Series E (1354 - 1355). Mint of York. See North number 1164. The coin has a very full flan and an unusual initial mark on the reverse which looks like a solid rectangle with the top right corner missing. The coin has a diameter of 29.5mm and is 1.01mm thick. It weighs 4.37g.
