A Roman gold solidus of Valentinian I (AD 364-75), RESTITVTOR REI PVBLICAE reverse depciting the emperor in military attire standing, head facing right, holding labarum ornamented with Chi-Ro and victory on globe. Mint of Trier, dating to the first period (25 February AD 364 - 24th August AD 367). Sear suggests a more precise date of AD 364. Reece period 19.

A plated copper alloy contemporary copy of a Roman solidus of Valentinian I dating to the period c. AD 364-367 (Reece period 19), RESTITVTOR REIPVBLICAE reverse type, depicting Emperor standing facing holding labarum and Victory on globe. Copying mint of Milan. Cf RIC Vol IX page 75, number 2(a). The copper alloy core is visible at 12 o'clock on the obverse and 6 o'clock on the reverse.

Gold coin. Solidus of Valentinian I (364-375), mint of Arles, issue of 364-367, Reece period 19, RIC volume 9 no. 1(b). This coin is in excellent condition, the only flaw being where the edge has been tweaked at 7 O'clock (obverse), probably to assay the material in antiquity.
Obverse description: Bust rosette diademed draped and cuirassed right.
Obverse inscription: DN VALENTINI ANVS PF AVG
Reverse description: Emperor standingright holding labarum with palm frond on its shaft and Victory on globe.
Reverse inscription: RESTITVTOR REIPVBLICAE
