A worn and corroded probable strap fitting in the form of a clasp of probable Post-Medieval to Early-Modern date. This artefact is formed of a central lozengical in plan and flat in section body with a single rectangular in plan bar extending horizontally at either end. To the attachment end, the rectangular bar expands further to a sub-oval form, with the exterior edge of the appearing to have a slight central curved recessed portion, creating one sub-rectangular knop to either side. Object type: TOKEN
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A worn and corroded lead-alloy token of probable Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1250-1800). It is decorated on one side with a six petalled flower, (Powell type 1) whilst the other depicts the initials '·T·C·' with a further pellet above (Powell type 2). The token has a very thin body with a light grey-white patina. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally. They are therefore hard to date precisely and examples with simple designs could be Medieval to late Post Medieval in date (c. AD 1250-1800)

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A worn and corroded fragment of a cast copper-alloy Post Medieval hooked tag dating to the 16th century AD (c. AD 1500-1600). This hooked tag is incomplete as the lower portion of the body and curved hook are now absent. The central body of the fragment is formed from an openwork moulded trefoil knot, known as a Hungerford knot, which would have been decorated with hatching. Extending from the central knot is a trapezoidal in plan attachment loop; this is formed from a single rectangular bar that attaches to the body at each end by a now heavily worn moulded rosette. The reverse is fl…

A worn and corroded fragment of a cast copper-alloy purse frame of late Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1450-1600). The fragment is rectangular in plan and broadly 'L'-shaped in section, with the exterior edge sloping gently whilst the interior edge falls away more steeply. The exterior edge retains traces of incised decoration which incorporates possible letters and spirals, although this is now difficult to discern as a result of the wear and corrosion on the fragment; the interior side is undecorated. This artefact has a dark green-brown colour overall. This fragment appears …

A worn and corroded lead-alloy weight of probable Post Medieval date (c. AD 1550-1800). The weight is circular in plan and flat in section, with slightly tapering sides. On the upper surface, a single motif, probably an 8 pointed star or petalled flower is visible but now worn; the underside is plain. It has a mid white-grey colour overall. Plain weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are hard to date precisely, although most are late Medieval to Post Medieval. The decoration on this particular example suggests a Post Medieval date. This weight measur…

The obverse depicts a crown above a round topped shield containing fleur de lis, H / - to the sides, with the reverse a long cross fourchee. This coin is now in two parts. This coin has received a counter-stamp on the reverse. Such a countermark of a fleur-de-lis in an oval of pellets revalued the coin at 15 deniers under Louis XIII during the ordinance of June 1640.

A worn and slightly corroded lead-alloy token of probable Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1250-1800). Possibly Powell Type 13 (frameworks) or 30 (pellets).
