Sheet belt mount folded into U-shape and secured by a rivet with collared globular knop head, engaged with a pendent loop with similar collared knop. The loop is similar to Dress Accessories no. 1192 and Meols no. 1251. A sheet washer is sandwiched between the rivet head and the U-shaped mount. Loop 17 x 13mm. Length of rivet 9.5mm.14th century

Strap-end formed from cut and folded sheet and secured by a single rivet through an incomplete rounded lobe at the attachment edge. From this edge the sides diverge before narrowing to the outside edge. Some hard brown, possibly organic, material remains within the fold. See G. Thomas' recent discussion of the large series of Saxon sheet strap-ends from Flixborough (Evans and Loveluck 2009, 9-10). 24.5 x 7.5mm

Fragment of base ring from hanging bowl: flat curving bar, one end broken, the other neatly chopped, decorated with a herringbone pattern on an enamelled ground. A small amount of dull pinkish enamel, probably once red, is extant. Very close to the vertical strips on the Faversham bowl (Brenan 1991, 210-11). Width 8mm. Thickness 1.5mm. Diameter 95mm. 7th century.

Small-long brooch of Leeds 1945 square-head (plain) type. Parts of the edges of the headplate and the lower footplate are missing. The headplate is punctured by a small hole. Incomplete single pin lug and catchplate on reverse. A ring-and-dot is visible near the two more intact corners of the headplate. D-sectioned bow with rectangular panels forming facets at top and base. Single transverse groove above side chafers on footplate. Ancient breaks. Length >39mm. Width >22.5mm. 6th century.

Possible harness pendant consisting of circular sheet with central domed boss and (partly damaged) edges obliquely cut into twenty-three serrations, and a tapering strip with round perforation at its broad end and a hook at the other, which is attached with solder to the underside of the boss. Tinning survives on the front face. Height 32.5mm. Width/diameter 24.5mm. Thickness at centre through boss and hook 7.5mm. No good parallel noted

Knife handle with ram's head terminal. The slightly damaged octagonal-sectioned socket is decorated with two encircling engraved lines near the open end and a collar of two moulded ribs around the ram's neck. The details of the head are moulded, apart from the eyes which are punched. Length 43mm. Maximum width 12mm. Socket 8 x 6mm internally. Perhaps 2nd century.

Book fitting or furniture fitting in the form of a highly stylised animal head with an iron-filled socket. The mouth of the socket is sub-rectangular. On the underside just beyond the mouth a large gap has left the iron filling exposed, a deliberately formed opening. The animal has protruding ears, no eyes and a long triangular-sectioned snout decorated on the front two faces with transversely engraved lines. The reverse of the upturned end of the snout is flat, and a spot of iron staining within it probably marks the end of the iron object. The object bears some resemblance to a Late…

Strap-end from a strap distributor with a single rivet at the split end. The main part is in the form of an animal head gripping in its mouth the head and tail of an additional animal whose folded-over body forms an integral loop and is decorated with short obliquely engraved grooves. Parts of the surface are obscured by corrosion products. Length 47.5mm. Width 5.5mm. Internal width of loop 3mm. No close parallel noted, but strap distributors with three strap ends attached to a central ring are well known in Anglo-Scandinavian contexts. 10th - 11th century.

Small fragment probably of a pin head, one gilt face decorated with chip-carved interlace. There is one tiny rounded lobe similar to those on the upper part of a pin from Brandon, Suffolk (Webster and Backhouse 1991 cat no.66(e)). This example seems more likely to be on the lower part near the springing of the pin. >12.5 x >8.5mm. 8th century.
