This example is a nativ…

Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Greater London Authority
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete medieval cast lead alloy pendant or badge of Christ on the Cross. The pendant is decorated on both faces with cross hatching and trefoil terminals; each foil is emphasised with a central raised pellet. On one face is a depicted of Christ with a halo. There is no obvious means of attachment but the top trefoil is broken and may originally have extended to an attachment loop. The pendant measures 26.1mm (length) x 21.0mm (width) x 1.5mm (thickness) and weighs 1.27g. The pendant is of an unprovenanced rood, therefore a broad medieval date is suggested.

One face of the purse is more elaborately decorated: there are additional pellets on the belt, includi…
