An incomplete copper-alloy buckle of medieval date, c.AD 1250 - 1400. The buckle has a single looped oval frame with integral lobed knops to either end of the bar. An integral plate expands from behind the bar and is narrowed and framed at each end by a transverse moulding. The terminal end is broken and worn. A barrel moulding is present at the centre of the plate with a circular perforation through it. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. A complete glass bead of uncertain date. The bead is circular in plan with a slightly off-central sub-circular perforation. The glass is a semi-translucent dark blue colour. The bead is 10.2mm in diameter, 4.9mm thick and weighs 0.5g. The perforation is 5.2mm in diameter. Glass beads are very difficult to date with any certainty. They are often thought to be Roman in date though blue glass beads were commonly for use in spangles on lace making bobbins in the 19th century. Only the domed front plate of the button remains which is circular with a convex front and hollow reverse. The upper domed surface is decorated with a faintly incised quatrefoil. The reverse is undecorated. The metal has a dark brown patina and is in fair condition. The button is 13.6mm in diameter, 1.7mm thick and weighs 1.1g. The front of the mount is convex, with a double banded circumferential border. The reverse is concave with two partial sub-rectangular projections (lugs, or integral rivets) on either side. From the opposite side of the loop an integral forked spacer extends, each arm flanking a narrowed pin bar. Both arms taper to a blunted point. The open loop of a pin remains fitted around the bar. A complete lead-alloy spindle whorl of medieval to Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1100 - 1600. Walton Rogers Form C. The spindle whorl is bi-conical with a central perforation running through it. It is decorated on both sides with irregularly spaced and oriented raised lines and pellets. The metal has a light brown/white patina and is worn. The spindle whorl is 29.3mm in diameter, 10.9mm thick and weighs 34.4g.
