A copper alloy double looped annular buckle of medieval date. The buckle frame is moulded into a floral shape with five notches separating each 'petal'. Each petal is decorated with transverse incised lines. The pin is missing. The rear of the frame is flat and undecorated. The buckle has a mid-green patina and is in good condition.
Dimensions: 28mm in length, 28mm in width, 3mm thick, 6.55g.
A similar example which can be found in Whitehead (2003), p47, no.272 has been dated to c.1450-1550.

An incomplete cast copper alloy purse bar of Medieval date. The object consists of one side bar which is circular in cross-section. Each end terminates with a break. The central block and opposite bar are missing. On the underside of the arm is an attachment plate with two circular perforations with an internal diameter of 2mm. One perforation is broken at the base. The side bar is decorated with niello-ornament of lattice pattern.
Dimensions: 56mm in length, 11mm in width (including attachment plate), 6mm thick, 17.0g.
This is a Type A1 purse bar (Ward-Perkins, 1940, p. 158-171…

Cast copper alloy derivative trumpet brooch dating to the Roman period. The brooch is a sprung example. It has a large rectangular head plate at the top of which the remains of a head loop can be seen. This steps down to a wide U-shaped head. The bow expands outwards from the head and is decorated with two deep panels. These panels would have contained enamel and remains of alternating possibly dark blue enamel can be seen within the panels. The panels terminate with a boss which is incised with a cross. Rim fragment of a Roman black burnished ware vessel. The form of the rim indicates that it is from a large jar similar to no. 374, p277 Smith and Davies, (1993). It has a rough brownish black patina. The fragment can be dated to the 4th century.

This type of vessel can be dated from the early 1st century to the early 2nd century AD. It has a rough brownish black patina. A similar type of vessel is type 17, p232 Smith and Davies, (1993).

Cast copper alloy belt stud or mount dating from the Iron Age to Roman period. The mount consists of an arched central section with rectangular wings protruding from either side. The object is D-Shaped in cross-section. The reverse of the object has a circular sectioned stud like projection. An incised groove runs down the edge of each wing. The object has a light green patina and is pitted. It is in good condition.

Cast copper alloy brooch fragment dating to the Roman period. The fragment is cruciform shaped in plan, flat and rectangular in cross-section. On the front of the fragment is an oval recessed panel. The remains of orange and blue enamel fill the panel. The orange appears to be the base colour while the blue, which is circular, forms the more detailed decoration. On the reverse of the fragment are the remains of a broken and worn down catchplate. The fragment is probably from a plate-brooch.

Cast single-piece brooch, of Nauheim-derivative La Tené style. A thin bow of circular section bears a simple catchplate, turning at the other end into a four-coiled spring and pin. A small amount of the tip of the pin has broken away. The brooch is in extremely good condition and has a light green patina. File marks can be seen on either side of the catch plate. It can be dated from the later Iron Age to Early Roman period, 100 BC – AD 100.

Cast copper alloy brooch fragment, probably from a trumpet brooch, dating to the Roman period, (45-410AD). The fragment consists of the lower leg, catchplate and foot of the brooch. The leg of the brooch is decorated with a vertical groove running down each side. The foot is flat and has two horizontal grooves decorating it. The catchplate is complete. Due to the fragmentary nature of this object, the type of brooch can not be identified.
