A lead alloy musket ball with a diameter of 17.5mm and a weight of 25.91gm. It has a casting flash offset, which is possibly a result of mould slip. In colour it is light grey, with a pitted and dusty surface. It probably dates from 1644 as it was recovered from the Marston Moor battlefield. Musket balls are discussed in Courtney's "Small Arms Accessories of the Mid-Seventeenth Century" (1988) and on page 202 of "Material Culture in London in an Age of Transition" by Geoff Egan (2005).
