Cast lead token dating to the Post-Medieval era 1600-1800.
The obverse depicts a possible set of initials although illegible as very worn. The reverse depicts wheel spokes.
It is unclear as to why lead tokens were produced although they appear numerous in the 17th and 18th centuries (Bailey 1999 page 56). They may have been produced as a form of working class low denomination currency associated with rural areas (Bailey 2000 pages 13-14). Alternative uses may have been for payment of casual workers or gambling (ibid. page 14).

Sixpence of William III (1695-6 AD). Used as a love token. This practice was at the height of popularity during William III's reign. The coin has two very straight subtle bends and the obverse has been smoothed to erradicate the monarch's head.

Cast copper alloy brooch buckle. The ring section is thick and circular. One half of the ring depicts twisted ridges in relief and the other half is smooth and rounded. The division between the two halves is very clear cut and it would seem therefore that there would have been an intentional way to wear the item. The pin is large with a length of 36mm and its thickness is 4mm. The head of the pin is largely worn. The pin is blunt and knobbled and due to its thick section the object would be too large to function as a brooch but as a buckle in the style of a brooch. There is what…

Cast copper alloy object dated from the Medieval to Post-Medieval era. It is an ecclesiastical mount intended to decorate a staff or similar. Cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch. A mature example of a trumpet brooch, early 2nd century AD in date. The bow has decoration at its middle consisting of upper and lower units sprouting leaves which enwrap the centre knob from above and below-known as the acanthus. The brooch would have had a chain loop inserted into the axial bar which is now missing. Decoration is applied to the upper and lower mid-bow flanges though this is fairly worn. The underface of the foot knob is recessed which Hattatt explains is to accommodate enamel (1982 page 107), although this is now missing.…
