A worn and clipped Post Medieval silver half groat of Charles I (1625-1649 AD) minted at the tower mint. The initial mark is a lis dating the coin to 1625. Both the obverse and reverse of the coin have a crowned rose identifying the coin as Group A. North, English Hammered Coinage Vol 2 (1975) p137, No.2248.

An incomplete post-medieval copper-alloy farthing of Charles I (1625-1649). Rose Type 1(d) (North 2290). Initial mark: mullet, dating to 1636-1644. Mint of London. North (1991, 165).
It measures 13.0 mm in diameter, 0.9 mm thick and weighs 0.48 g.
The coin contains a copper-alloy wedge which was added to negate counterfeiting.; this has snapped, with part lost at the circumference.
