A post-Medieval or Modern lead alloy unidentified object relating to Cowes, Isle of Wight (c. 1800-c. 1920).
The object is roughly square in plan, moulded at the front and uneven at the rear. The front has what appears to be three human busts or figures facing forwards with the place name 'COWES' above. There appears to be another word below the busts which is incomplete and illegible.
The object is grey and is fractured at the front.

An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy ?double-looped buckle (c. 1550-c. 1650).
The frame was possibly double-looped. However, it could be a single-loop frame. The narrowed pin bar is circular in cross-section and protrudes beyond the frame at both ends to form pointed knops. The upper face of the outer edge of the frame has grooves forming foliate decoration ('vine scroll'). The tapering copper-alloy pin is 'D'-shaped in cross-section, flat on the underside.
This buckle is green with patches of a darker green patina.

An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) copper-alloy shield-tongue pin from a buckle (c. 450-c. 600). Marzinzik (2003) Type 1.2.
The pin is 'shield' shaped (fiddle-shaped) over a loop which is now missing but survives as stubs that are partially obscured by iron corrosion. The shaft is 'D'-shaped in cross-section, flat on the underside and its tip curves downwards.
The pin is corroded and in poor condition.

Reverse: REMEMBER THE DEBTORS IN ILCHESTER GOAL; A seated female figure instructing a boy with a key to unlock prison doors, GO FORTH above which is radiated with the rays reaching downwards almost to the figure's head and outstretched arm. All within a circle formed by pellets.

An incomplete and corroded Early Bronze Age un-looped palstave (c. 1500 BC-c. 1300 BC).
The flanges, the butt and the cutting edge are incomplete due to breaks.
The butt would have been rounded and the septum has a maximum thickness of 9.7mm close to the 'stop' and a minimum thickness of 3.8mm at the butt end. On both faces, just below the septum, a hollow shield-shaped area extends for a length of c. 19.5mm. Level with the stops the width is 23.4mm and the thickness is 26.3mm. An incomplete Neolithic polished flint axehead (4000 BC-2351 BC).
About 60% of the implement survives. The cutting edge is missing due to an old transverse break.
In plan the butt is rounded and the sides flare to the break where it is pointed-oval in cross-section. In side view it is sub-rectangular but pointed at the butt end. Although the axehead has been polished, much of the flaking can be seen. A large flake scar near the break may have been created when it was broken.

The suspension loop is largely missing. The inscription within an outer and inner fine line border is illegible. The central design is also illegible. The rear face is plain and the break at the loop is abraded.
This matrix is buff.

When found this matrix was folded through 180°, so that only the die was visible.

The pin is missing.
The frame is moulded at the front, flat at the rear and both loops are similar in size and shape. Both outside edges have a rosette at the centre. The narrowed bar is triangular in cross-section, flat at the rear. There is a small knop at each end of the bar.
This buckle frame is partially corroded and drab green with some black lacquer on both faces.
