Silver and stone pendant. A flat and elongated oval panel of polished grey-brown banded stone retained within a silver frame by a pair of drawn wire loops. Each loop is closed by a blob of solder, and a small oval suspension loop is attached at one end. Blobs of solder also form an asymmetrically distributed series around the frame. The stone is paler on one side and darker on the other; the casual execution of its setting gives the impression of a modern item of handicraft jewellery. Suggested date: Modern, 1975-2015 Length: 46.6mm, Width: 16.3mm, Thickness: 6.7mm, Weight: 6.68gms

Silver pendant, as kindly identified by the finder. Cast cruciform pendant comprising a central circular panel with four symmetrically arranged arms, of which three with pellet ends remain. The lost part of the fourth arm is thought to have included a suspension loop. Each side of the panel bears neatly incised cross-hatched decoration, with four lines in one direction crossed by five in the other. The finder kindly suggests a 13th-century date. Its small size suggests that wearing the pendant was a private act, as it is too small to be considered an assertive badge of beliefs which w…

Circular pendant made from cast silver. The front has gilded but now worn relief decoration of the Norse god Odin and his attendant ravens, Huginn and Muninn (Thought and Memory). The effect is of cast decoration which has then been cleaned up with an engraving tool; it is softly contoured and reserved against a sunken background. Odin's head is directly below the suspension loop, which is cast and drilled from side to side and is decorated on the front with a sunken panel containing a series of short transverse gilded ridges. Above this the loop appears ungilded and there are…

Description: Possible Thor's hammer amulet made from a bright and shiny silver (see below for compositional analysis). It is made from a rod of rounded sub-rectangular section, one end hammered to form a flared, originally triangular, end.
