Object type: UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Medway
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Unidentified silver object comprising two hollow hemispherical elements originally joined by silver cable edging, now partly detached. Each element made from thin silver sheet, the outer surface etched with fine foliate ornament around a central band left in reserve. The function of this object is uncertain. It does not appear to be a bell and has no attachment loop. It does not appear to be broken off from another object. Could it be part of a child's rattle? Consequently its dating is also a puzzle, it is certainly post-medieval but may be later than 1707.
