It consists of an octagonal cross-sectioned wire, which has been bent into a loop with either end wrapped twice around the other to secure it. It survives in excellent condition. Description: A complete medieval gold finger ring. The hoop is an oval-sectioned band which flares slightly at the shoulders. The bezel is lozenge-shaped in profile and oval in plan; it stands proud of the hoop and contains a dark red gem, probably a garnet.
