Fragment of a polished axehead made from opaque, mixed, light grey flint, recorticated. The axehead was narrow with a pointed oval section and has been truncated with an abrupt fracture. Polishing is restricted to an area around the cutting edge but it appears to have originally extended over the surface of the axe and been deliberately flaked off. It is notable that the section of the axe narrows where the polishing terminates and that there is battering along its sides. Neolithic. Length 52mm, Width 35mm, Thickness 22mm, Mass 49.1g.

Lithic implement, carefully flaked but of uncertain function. Made from an opaque, mixed, medium grey flint with some off-white spots. A small, crystal filled natural hole runs through the implemnt. No recortication, one small area of original cortex. Bifacially worked with a battered edge and resembles a tiny, pointed, handaxe with a lozenge section. Both the pointed end and the rounded butt are finely retouched (invasive, scaled, semi-abrupt). While this object is difficult to parallel the style of the flaking suggests late Neolithic date. Flaked axe/adze head, made from opaque, mixed grey flint, light recortication, area of cortex on dorsal face, the ventral face consisting of a single flake scar with a low bulb of percussion. The object was flaked from the ventral face to produce, away from the cortex, a keeled section with some battering along edges. The cutting edge is damaged making description impossible. This object is difficult to date but is likely to be Mesolithic. Length 115mm, Width 42mm, Thickness 18mm, Mass 107.5g.

Section keeled and flaked on all all sides, some battering along edges. One end sharply pointed with a triangular section, the other rounded. This object best described as a fabricator and the style of the flaking suggests a Mesoithic date. Length 117mm, Width 24mm, Thickness 23mm, Mass 77.1g.

Possible roughout for the manufacture of an axe, or a tranchet adze, made from what is likely to be an opaque, blotchy, light grey flint with some recortication. Small spots of cortex survive. Bifacially flaked to produce a pointed oval section with some battering on edge. One end sharpened with a tranchet flake, the other steeply truncated. While this object may be a roughout it is also possible that it was a Mesolithic tranchet axe. The style of the flaking supports a Neolithic date. Length 102mm, Width 44mm, Thickness 21mm, Mass 130.2g.

Probable roughout for the manufacture of a an axe, made from an opaque, blotchy, grey flint with light recortication. The flint is of poor quality and contains faults. On one face is an area of cortex. Bifacially flaked, to produce a pointed oval section, the implement bears a fortuitous resemblance to a pointed handaxe, a phenomon noted on other Sussex flint mine sites (Curwen, 1954,127-8 Fig. 32). This object is best interpreted as a Neolithic roughout, abandoned early in the process of axe manufacture. Length 136mm, Width 79mm, Thickness 41mm, Mass 390.6g.
