Medieval strap end, cast copper alloy, incomplete. The strap end is base on the Late Medieval 'lyre shaped' buckles as found at Meols (Griffiths et. al. 2007, Pl. 17, No. 765). The strap was fitted into a square socket through which are two, 2.6mm diameter, rivet holes. On one of its faces is lettering in black letter, or pseudo black letter style. This cannot be read. The other face is plain. Separated from the socket by a deep groove are truncated remains of a decorative plate, only part of the central secttion survives, it is likely that two lateral elements are missing. The centra…

Medieval copper alloy buckle and plate, poor condition, most of loop missing. Double loop with a sheet metal, wrap around plate secured by a single rivet. Wire pin still present. In London similar buckles are dated to c. 1270-1400 (Egan and Pritchard, 1991, Fig. 54, Nos 380-384. Length 25.5mm, Width 11.8mm, Thickness 3.0mm, Mass 1.56g.

Medieval or post Medieval hook fitting, probably from a vessel. The object consists of a 21.3mm long bar with a keeled, triangular section. On the underside of this are two, 6.4mm long, integrally cast rivets, their ends expanded to hold them in place. The hook is separated from the bar by a narrow, transverse moulding, it has a keeled section which narrows, changing to a D section.
