Object type: BUCKLE
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Milton Keynes
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A very small complete single loop buckle. The inner frame has a raised ridge running round the curve but encrustation on the buckle has obscured any decoration there may have been. A similar raised flange can be seen on a larger, 1450-1550 example in Whitehead [p25 no 123] The pin consists of a rather thick lenght of metal folded round the bar. Because of the size of the pin there is little room on the bar for the strap/belt. No exact parallel has been found for this buckle but it is considered to be medieval.
