Part of a cast copper-alloy handle fragment from a cauldron of Medieval or Post-Medieval date. The handle is C-shaped with a sharp but rounded bend at the centre. The handle is circular at one end becoming wider and oval in section at the centre and continuing that section to the other end. Both ends have concave faces and appear complete with the faces being the inner side of the vessel with no more of the vessel wall attached.
Similar C-shaped handles are illustrated by Butler et al. (2009, 5; fig. 3 b) who suggest (ibid:1) vessels of this type were in use c.AD 1100-1750.

A rim fragment from a late Medieval or Post Medieval cast copper alloy vessel. The rim is slightly thickened with a D shaped swelling on the outer side and would have flared out from the body of the vessel. The internal surface is smooth but the external surface is slightly rough from being casting and has extensive soot deposits.
Crudely made cast copper alloy vessels were widely used from c. AD 1200-1700 for serving and cooking (Butler and Green 2003; 7,15, 22).

Part of a cast copper alloy leg from a Medieval to Post Medieval vessel. The leg has a sub-rectangular cross section with convex rounded edges and a flat front and back. At the top and bottom are old breaks. The front of the leg has a raised central rib running down the length.
This appears to be an example of Butler, Green and Payne (2009: 4) Type 'a'. This type was widespread in the Medieval period with examples also found into the early 17th century. SOM-D66AA0 on this database is similar.

A fragment from the neck of a Roman flagon or bottle. The fabric of the pot is evenly fired, sand tempered and mid brownish in colour. There are no signs of a scar where a handle might have broken off suggesting that if there was a handle it was set unusually low down from the rim.

A post-medieval cast copper-alloy vessel leg. The leg is triangular with rounded corners in cross-section with a flat back and convex front. It is decorated with a central longitudinal rib running down the front. The terminal is simply rounded rather than ending in distinct a foot. The attachment end bears the curved interior of the vessel with very little surviving beyond the cross-section of the leg.
This foot combines elements of all the types categorised by Butler et al (2009:6), having the plain triangular form with no distinct foot of type D but the central rib seen on the ot…

A lead pot mend consisting of two asymmetric shapes joined by a small bridging piece of metal. The inner surfaces are flat. The 3mm gap between the two shapes implies the this is the thickness of the vessel wall. This object could date from the Roman to post-Medieval period.
