An incomplete copper alloy medieval buckle with integral plate. The frame is rectangular, with a prominent grooved pin rest. Decorated with three grooves to either side of the circular pin hole, which retains about half of a copper-alloy pin. The grooves are cut through by two rivet holes, one of which retains the remains of a copper-alloy rivet. Beyond this the plate is broken, but there is a hint of an original edge in the centre which may be the remains of a central rectangular hole.
Length 21.4 mm, width 21 mm, thickness 2.6 mm, weight 3.1 g.
This buckle is clearly not exact…
