A small trapezoidal object cast in copper alloy, possibly a mis-cast medieval strap-slide with a pair of short pointed internal projections. It is trapezoidal in shape with slightly rounded corners. The artefact is flat on both faces. It has a large, broadly T-shaped openwork, slightly off centre. On one surface there is a longitudinally incised line between the hole and the side; the wider side.
The attribution of this artefact is uncertain; it is reminiscent of medieval padlocks. For rectangular/trapezoidal strap-slides/loops can be found illustrated in Griffiths et al. (2007, 129…

An incomplete copper-alloy possible toilet implement, seemingly broken at one end with the bowl abraded at the other. The bowl expands gradually out of the handle into a piriform shape, with significant abrasions at the tip. This broken scoop or bowl is shallowly concave (W.: 7.75mm). It has been bent at an angle of about eighty degrees to the handle, presumably as a result of old damage. The handle is formed of twisted wire, also bent and probably snipped. Twisted handles are to be found on Roman cosmetic implements, although distinguishing them from medical implements is difficult, …

A corroded, irregular late 2nd-/early 3rd-century silver-plated copper-alloy denarius, probable mule, copying Septimius Severus, 'PART MAX PONT TR P IIII' (possibly), struck at 'Rome' mint (AD c. 200 - c. 201; Reece issue period 10).
See SUSS-34B064 on this database for potentially the same hybrid, possibly plated too, but surviving better. The obverse legend belongs with coins issued AD 200-201 (see R.I.C. IV, p. 111), while the 'PART MAX PONT TR P IIII' reverse type dates to an issue of AD 196-197 (R.I.C. 90).
