Cast pewter double loop annular shoe buckle with drawn iron wire pin which has become encrusted with lumps of iron oxide as it has corroded so that the pin / strap bar is barely visible. On either end of the strap bar, at the terminus with the bar and the circular frame, there is a circular knop, raised above the upper surface of the frame. The rest of the frame, apart from where these two knops protrude, has a flat base and a hemispherical profile in cross-section.
Whitehead (1996) illustrates a very similar example on page 45, no.260, which he dates to c.1400-1600
