A copper alloy radiate or nummus of the Roman Empire. Both faces are illegible so the emperor and reverse type, and therefore the exact date of this coin, are unknown. Radiates and nummi in general date from 260-402 AD (Reece periods 18-21).
Although some shapes are visible on the both faces the heavy encrustation means it is not possible to resolve these into any design, or determine which face is which. The surfaces have a patchy appearance with areas of brown and of pale green. Some recent damage around the edge reveals a bright green core. This coin measures 13.47mm in diameter…
