Pottery Rimsherd. Pale sandy grey fabric; Greyware. The markedly flared rim of a wide bowl of estimated diameter 310mm. Though perhaps resembling a mortarium in its form, there is no trace of internal grit. Suggested date: Roman, 100-300. Sandra Firth kindly examined this sherd. Length: 97mm, Weight: 71.33gms.

This is a small assemblage of medieval/post medieval glazed pottery sherds, consisting of a foot rim in red earthenware akin to the late medieval to post-medieval red wares with a brown internal glaze. Two further pieces similar to the Malvernian glazed ware and one, typical of typical of a glazed micaceous red ware.

Fragment of a pottery roof ridge tile with grooved decoration in a 'herring bone' pattern or 'fir tree' motif on either side of the crest and running from the top of the ridge towards the base of the tile, which is missing. The fabric includes small white inclusions of feldspar and slivers of gray shale and fragments of mica, which suggest that it is made of Lostwithiel-type ware. Incomplete ceramic vessel that contained part of plough dispersed hoard of Late Iron Age, Durotrigan, base silver staters (100 BC - AD 43). See PAS record IOW-F44A12. Treasure case no. BM2005 T443. Total weight of sherds 218.97g.(includes some soil adhering to the surfaces). This incomplete part of the vessel consists of base and lower body sherds (15 sherds in total). The fabric has very dark grey (Munsell Color 5YR 3/1) outer and inner surfaces under which there is a very thin reddish layer. The core of the fabric is a mid-grey colour.
