A complete Medieval copper alloy casket key dating to c. AD 1150-1450. The bow of the key is circular with an oval cross section and internal diameter of 5.18mm. The solid stem is sub-rectangular in cross section, extending from the base of the bow and terminating in a projecting pin beyond the bit. The bit has a rectangular ward with clefts on each side forming an inverted 'T' shape. The key has a dark green patina, and is bent slightly to the left. Copper alloy boot fragment. A flat cast and probably pressed metal curved component, flanged on the inner side of its curve, probably from the heel of a work boot with metal inserts or attachments. This interpretation is suggested by the form, and by four drilled holes of diameter 2.5mm equidistantly distributed along the flange, which would have enabled the object to be incorporated into the layers of a stitched sole. A complete but distorted copper alloy pin of most likely Roman date, although an Early Medieval date cannot be fully discounted. The head of the pin is plain and globular and c. 4.7mm in diameter. Below the head is a moulded, raised band, however this is not so pronounced as the collars normally seen on Early Medieval examples.
