The foot and catchplate of a cast copper alloy Roman bow brooch. The pin, head and upper portion of the bow, are missing to an old transverse break in the bow. The bow is thick but rectagnular in cross section. It initially widens from 6.5mm wide at its transverse to 10.9mm wide and then narrows down its remaining length to a squared off foot that is 3.2mm wide.  The front of the bow is decorated by three prominent raised ribs at the initial widened section of the bow.  On the back of the bow is a triangular catchplate whose upper edge curves slightly to meet …

Fragment of a probable copper alloy Roman plate brooch, inlaid with enamel, dating to the 2nd century AD (100-200AD). The object is oval in plan and slightly convex on the outer face. There is a break at the top and bottom of the object.  This suggests that the object could be a large roundel from the centre of a brooch bow.  It is decorated on the outer face with a series of concentric circular cells, the largest of which contains blue enamel or glass. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative rear hook bow brooch. It is missing the spring, pin, catchplate and part of the foot due to old breaks. Roman copper alloy brooch that is a hybrid between a Polden Hill and a Wirral style. The pin mounting is in the polden Hill style, consisting of rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that would have held the pin axis bar which is now missing. The bow of the brooch is in the Wirral style and consists of a double rectangular cell covering the top quarter, which contains traces of a red or orange enamel. Two angled low protrusions flank the apex of the bow and a shallow double grove running down the centre of the lower half completes the decoration. Date 75-175AD

About half of the flat circular frame of an early Anglo-Saxon copper-alloy annular brooch, with an original diameter of c. 40mm. One break is across a neat rounded hole in the frame. This may be the pin hole, but on the reverse there is solder around the hole and it may possibly alternatively be a repair. Fragment of copper alloy, probably a small piece of foot from an early Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. The fragment is C-shaped in cross-section, hollow on the reverse, and is broken at both ends (one break fairly fresh and granular, the other more worn). At one end, the front has a bold moulding, 4-5mm deep and flat-topped, which is divided into two by an off-centre transverse groove.
