Description: The clasp is formed from a thin rectangular strip 11.8mm wide, with a slightly splayed expansion at one end which has a centrally located fixing hole and terminates in three knops or projections totalling 13.32mm wide. A complete copper alloy spur of probable later Post-Medieval date (1600-1700) probably for a child. Only the rowell is missing. The arms are D-shaped in cross section and tapers slightly from the apex of the spur to their ends. They are flat in profile. Both ends terminate in rounded points lacking attachment fittings. The strap fitting consists of a circular hollow-domed plate, attachment knop and projecting hook attachment. The main body of the strap fitting is a sub-oval dome that is convex on its front and concave on its back. Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type. This has rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that would have held the pin axis bar, this is missing resulting in the loss of the pin and spring. Remains of a rearwards facing loop or hook are visible on the top of the head. The front of the bow is decorated with two parallel channels that extend to the middle of the bow and would have contained enamel which is now missing. The base of the catchplate is visible on the reverse but it’s hook is truncate.
