Copper-alloy palstave of type Carleton, middle Bronze Age date, Taunton phase (c. 1400-1100 BC), complete except for much of the cutting edge. When viewed from the side, the flanges are rounded. Down one side is a narrow casting seam with hammer marks across it; in the centre of the opposite side is a side-loop.

A Post Medieval cast copper alloy coin weight dating from AD 1500-1650. The weight is sub-square and features the Gelderse rider (Gelderse Rijder), the reverse is undecorated.

Copper alloy mount, as kindly identified by the finder. A small pressed metal plate with a leaf-shape flanked by pellets nested in spirals and with a row of pellets above; all details appearing reversed on the back. Green colorant, perhaps enamel or paint, appears on the protruding rounded parts of the motif. Presumably this was set in to a flat surface. Suggested date: Modern, 1900-1920

A complete copper alloy two-part shoe or knee buckle of post medieval date c. AD 1660-1720.
The buckle consists of the buckle frame, separate spindle and chape and pin.
The buckle frame is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and has bevelled edges. In profile the frame is bowed. The frame is drilled at the mid point for a separate probable iron spindle. A silver scabbard chape of probable Medieval date, AD 1350 - 1500, but it could also be Post medieval and a date range of AD 1300 - 1650 possible. The chape is narrow and tapering towards the pointed closed end. It is a rounded rectangle in cross-section and tapers to a blunt point. There is no visible seam or joint, nor is there any decoration. The top edge is irregular and is probably a break. This would explain why there are no visible rivet holes or other form of attachment. An incomplete cast copper-alloy early medieval (early Anglo-Saxon) small long brooch dating to c.AD 450-550. Penn and Brugmann (2007) Sm2 or Sm3.
Only the headplate and part of the bow has survived. The headplate comprises a trefoil head with three projecting sub-rectangular lobes with semi-circular cut aways at each angle. The bow springs from the headplate; it has a D cross-section and is decorated on the convex side with oblique indentations where the bow meets the headplate, creating a trapezoidal block at the upper portion of the bow. A cast Medieval to early Post-Medieval copper-alloy single loop rectangular buckle frame, dating to c.AD 1400-1700.
Description: The copper alloy frame has uniform dimensions on each side. All edges are slightly bevelled on the upper and lower faces. There is a slight notch on the shorter (bar). The frame has a mid-brown coloured patina. The pin is missing.
Measurements: Length: 29.97 - 28.9 mm; Width: 17.96 mm; Thickness: 3.15 mm and Weight: 4.75 g.

A complete copper-alloy medieval seal matrix. The matrix is disc-shaped with a seam running across the centre of the reverse from which a suspension loop develops to one side (now almost entirely missing). The outer face (die) is decorated with the central engraved design of a male and female head facing each other kissing and an outer engraved inscription, which is now too worn and damaged to be ready clearly. The surface of the metal is corroded and the breaks are well worn.

A complete lead spindle whorl of uncertain date. It is plano-convex in shape with a convex upper surface and a flat base. It is sub circular in shape with a central circular hole of internal diameter 9.2mm. The weight is 23.40mm in diameter and is 11.8mm thick. It weighs 34.68g. It has a light gray/white patina and is decorated with low bosses.
Objects such as these were used for a long period of time for a variety of functions with little change in form.

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative rear hook bow brooch. It is missing the spring, pin and lower bow/ catchplate due to old breaks. The wings are semi-cylindrical in form, separated by an integrally cast rear facing hook. The bow is D-shaped in section, tapering to a pointed foot that is missing its tip due to old breaks. It has decoration on its front face comprising a central vertical rib that runs from rear hook to foot and grooves along the edges of the bow.
It measures 29mm in length, 21.9mm in width at wings, and 5g in weight.

A probable Medieval copper-alloy harness pendant dating to circa AD 1200-1400. Plano-convex in section, the piece consists of five - broadly tear-shaped - lobes representing petals arranged in a 2-2-1 formation. At the apex is a transverse projecting collar set below a D-shaped suspension lug. The reverse is plain. The front face retains significant traces of gilding. It has a brown-green patina.
No precise parallel can be found on the database. The gilding would suggest a Medieval date although the patina could potentially suggest a Post Medieval date.
