Small figurine of an Eagle. The eagle is standing with its wings tucked in and head raised. The object appears to have had no further decoration or surface treatment. The eagle, in Roman culture, was a potent symbol of the power and strength of Rome. It also has symbolic properties and is often associated with the Sky god Jupiter. This small figurine has no method of attachment, and will stand up by itself. It is likely that it is a domestic shrine piece or a personal domestic ornament, however they are also commonly found in military contexts.
