A bi-conical lead steelyard weight with an iron shank, broadly dating from the Roman to post-medieval periods c. AD 43-1700. The weight is sub-circular in plan and in cross section. The weight is very worn with many large scars to the surface.  Weight: 57.71g, diameter: 25.93mm, height: 19.81mm.

A mostly complete lead steelyard weight dating to the Roman period (c.AD 43-410). The weight is spherical with a slightly pointed top. At the apex is an incomplete iron suspension loop. Ovoid lead weight with remains of iron attachment rod passing axially from top to bottom. The weight is light grey in colour with surface dents and scrapes but no decoration. Weights such as this are usually identified as steelyard weights which were in common use during the Roman, Medieval and Post Medieval periods. There is no archaeological context or stylistic markers for this weight, but the degree of patination is suggestive of some age, therefore a wide range date is suggested curtailed in the 17th century. Conical lead weight of uncertain date. The weight has a circular base with tapering conical sides and is pinched at the top with a transverse circular suspension hole. There are four circular holes spaced equally around the edge of the underside of the weight, that penetrate upwards through to the sides of the conical body. An incomplete lead steelyard weight or plumb bob of probable Roman date (c. AD 43 - 410). Description: The weight is roughly cylindrical and widens towards the flattened top. There are traces of three points where iron suspension loops may have been attached projecting from the flat top of the weight. The top is flat and the bottom is rounded with no projecting iron. Measurements: 19.22mm in height, 16.11mm in diameter and 28.48g in weight.

It is D-shaped in cross-section, being solid and flat to the underside, and relatively circular in shape with the top of the head rounding up in a small bump.
