A lead weight which is conical in shape and has an incomplete iron loop projecting from its tapering terminal. It measures 55.00mm in height and has a base diameter of 36.31mm, and a weight of 317.32g. This weight is Roman to post medieval in date, the presence of an iron loop may mean it is at the earlier end of this date range.

A complete lead / lead alloy weight or spindle whorl probably dating to the medieval to post medieval period. The object is circular in form with a rounded edge, the base is flat. It is undecorated and has a large central perforation measuring 7.18mm in diameter. The object has a light cream patina. Weights found outside of secure archaeological contexts such as these are difficult to date because their use and style remains continuous from the Roman period onwards. Most examples likely date from the medieval period onwards. It is unclear what the original mass of the weigh…

An incomplete probable Roman lead-alloy and iron steelyard weight dating to circa AD 43-410. It is oval in plan and bi-conical in section with a heavily degraded face Two opposed broadly circular areas of iron staining indicate the presence of an iron loop, now missing. The weight falls into Tyrrell's B4 classification system (2015).

An incomplete cast, lead steelyard weight, probably dating to the Roman period (c. AD 43-410). The weight is broadly bi-conical in form with both sections tapering to a rounded point. One section appears slightly truncated; it is possible that this would have been the site of an attachment loop would have been attached. This would probably have been made of iron. Although minimal there is some evidence of iron corrosion on the surface of the weight at one apex.  The surface of the weight is undecorated and is patinated creamy-brown with patches of grey. …

Biconical lead steelyard weight, of probable Roman date, with an embedded U-shaped, circular cross-sectioned copper-alloy loop at the top. Another copper-alloy loop, also circular in cross-section, is linked to the first one. This is teardrop shaped, with one terminal coiled three times into a now vacant tube and the other terminating close to the tube’s lower-side opening. The coiled terminal seems likely to be broken and missing further coils if it was to suspend the weight securely. If this is the case, the break is worn. The upper and lower ‘halves’ of the weight are of…
