A lead alloy toy cannon fragment of Post-Medieval date, circa AD1700 - 1900. The copper alloy versions of these models were produced as complete working models of their larger counterparts, though the durability of a lead alloy version charged with black powder is debateable. There are two trunnions protruding from each side of the object, which would have enabled the piece to be elevated and mounted onto a wooden wheeled carriage. There are three reinforcing rings on the barrel, which gently tapers from the vent towards the muzzle. There is slight damage to the muzzle end and the can…

Lead toy or whirligig. An irregular rectangle cut from cast sheet of with two adjacent holes set near-centrally, and with a serrated edge with triangular teeth spaced around its edge. A string would be doubled and passed through the two holes, and when the string was pulled sharply taut the object would spin and produce a buzzing sound. This is clearly a plaything improvised from a scrap of lead used for other purpose; in this case the gauge of the sheet is a little light for heavy structural uses. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900. The length is 28mm and the width is 28mm.

An incomplete cast lead alloy toy of post-medieval date. The toy is incomplete makings it's interpretation difficult. The main body of the object is conical with hatching decoration around its circumference and a circular sectioned, bent arm extending from one end.
