A medieval lead alloy boy bishop (or 'St Nicholas') penny token dating to c.AD1470-1539 belonging to Rigold's Inscribed Bury Series (possibly Type E 'Sancto Nicholae' although inscription difficult to read) made in Bury St Edmunds (Suffolk). Ref: Rigold 1978. Obverse: mitre within plain inner circle; possibly ORA (PRO NOB) BEAT[  ] Reverse: Long cross dividing the inscription, three pellets in each quarter; illegible   Diameter: 14.9mm, Weight: 1.82gms

A complete Medieval or Post Medieval cast lead alloy circular unifaced token of Powell type 3. The token has a raised design of eight lines radiating from a central point. The other side is blank. It is 18.12 mm in diameter, 1.74 mm thick and weighs 3.5 grams. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally, they are therefore hard to date precisely and this example could date from the Medieval or Post Medieval periods, c.1250-1800 AD.
